Looks like CO is taking a step towards helping animals! There is a new partnership between the Colorado Humane Society and metro Denver Crime Stoppers that allows people to report animal abuse anonymously and even possible get a reward for it. I'm hoping this means more people will have the courage to step up and say something. Call 720-913-STOP (7867) or give your tip online . I know you can't change every animal's life, but you can change a life for one animal and still make a BIG difference!
Here is the story from our local news channel...now, if only we could get rid of BSL...

Some lucky person out there is going to win a trip to BlogPaws 2011 in Tysons Corner, VA! For a few reasons that person won't be me. First, I'm considered family and not eligible. Second, and most important, I am lucky enough to already by sponsored by Found Animals! To me that is the most exciting news, but I can't wait to see someone be as excited as me when they win the photo caption contest and we get to meet at BlogPaws!

A Gift For Patrick Day was on Friday, April 15, 2011. It coincided with The Day of Silence. I recognized both. You can find out more about Patrick by reading this or watching my video post. For A Gift For Patrick Day you can do something to help animals in honor of him. Luckily this day was near my Birthday and I received a lot of birthday money in the past few days. I started out with 25 dollars that I was ready to donate to Mariah's Promise, a Pit Bull sanctuary that had a lot of construction to do to prevent being shut down. Then, over the weekend, I was given a lot more money. I decided I would donate 50% of my birthday money to Mariah's Promise. I ended up with $250, which means I am giving Mariah's Promise $125!! I am very excited for them and hope all goes well!! I also can't wait to visit the sanctuary in the near future.
It's not too late. If you didn't do anything in honor of Patrick yet, you still can. There are many animals and shelters that need your help. I know that things are tough right now for many people (my Mom reminds me ALL the time!) so instead of cash, maybe you have some old blankets or other items that are on a nearby shelters wish list. Every shelter has a wish list. Maybe you can make some of those wishes come true!

Today I was on the BlogPaws blog and saw a post that caught my eye. It is called "Animal Welfare Causes - Do You Feel Guilty?" Well, I'll tell you one thing. I don't.
I am a kid. I am 13 and I am proud to say I support animal welfare. Just because I support animal welfare does not mean I don't support people's welfare. I think if we really want to make a difference in this world we all have to support something. I happen to focus on animals and help them. I'm sure there are other kids around the globe who try to help people who may be hungry, abused or homeless. I'm glad that they do. When I help animals I feel happy inside and I feel like I am here for a reason.
In the post it mentioned another blog that had written more about it. I went to the blog: Dog Food Dish by Roxanne Hawn. She had a short survey about Pet Food Ethics that I recommend everyone and anyone fill out. It's interesting to see how many people view that as an issue, and the possible importance of it. But, in my opinion, to make a difference we have to support something. Who knows, maybe if animals keep getting support it will inspire more people to Start The Change and help tons of causes around the world.
Thank you,
Miah Rae

Please watch my first personal video blog for a little info about what April 15th means to me, and I hope everyone takes a moment to think of something they can do too.
Thank you,

Miah and I have been learning so much about different ways to help pets, shelters, causes and much more. It's been an overwhelmingly inspiring couple of weeks. One thing we learned about is The Pet Postcard Project. It's simple, fun and it feeds animals.
Basically, anyone can make a postcard using a picture of their pet - or their neighbor's pet or any person they know who has a pet, as long as it's a picture of a pet you know and not a magazine photo - and put a cute phrase on it that falls into one of the 4 categories: confessions/secrets, advice, wishes or "you know you love your dog/cat when." The picture here is from their facebook page profile picture, which is a great example! You can be as simple as you want, or as creative as you want. What a great idea!!
Miah is going to be making a postcard, or maybe two! And I will definitely be making a few of my own. We'll post them when they are finished. We both enjoy drawing so I can't wait to see what we come up with!
Visit their website and their facebook page to find out more about how the cards turn into food, and to view other examples. I think this is a great project for youth groups who want to do something crafty while promoting a cause. What's better than that?

I just wanted to post a quick note to let everyone know that I now have an Adoptable Pet of the Week section in the side bar of my blog! I'm excited about this because I want every animal to find a furever home and I hope this helps. Please check it and share the link.
(Thank you www.dogplayshops.com for the image)
This week it's Ruby, a beautiful dog at the Longmont Humane Society. I hope to change it every Thursday or Friday with another available pet. Not just dogs either. Cats, ferrets, bunnies, mice and every other animal you can adopt from a shelter. And not always the Longmont Humane Society, but I do really like them so don't be surprised if many of my features are available there.
I would also welcome any suggestions if you have them!
Thank you,
Miah Rae

It's safe to say that I am overwhelmed by the Global Pet Expo! There are SO many people here, so many great companies and so many great products. One of my goals is to find some things for Miah to write about. Things that interest her and her peers, and I believe I have successfully done that. Stay tuned. You will be hearing about them.
For now, I'd just like to say that the highlight so far - next to meeting Victoria Stillwell yesterday - has been giving some love to Tillman!! Yes, the real skateboarding/snowboarding/surfing dog!!

This weekend I will be living my dream as I dance in 3 different dance routines at a local competition. I'm really excited to perform, but always wish it could mean more. I'm really looking forward to next weekend when I get to attend Don't Kill Bill with my friends who are going to make a difference with me.
My pets and animals are always on my mind - even when I'm somewhere else and doing something that is more for me than for them.
I love dance and I promise I will use that to help educate people and kids about everything related to my favorite furry friends!
