Maybe you remember my post in April about a Gift for Patrick Day and the Day of Silence. It was the last day I went to that school because of bullying. Let's just say, that day was the final straw. I have been in the EXACT same position as this boy, and I know EXACTLY how he feels. When I found this video, I looked below and there was a video making fun of him talking about what it was like to be made fun of. It hurts me to know that people could be so heartless.
Watch this, it will help you understand what it feels like to be the one who gets picked on, unless you aready know.
That took courage.

It's no secret that I love Pit Bulls, do not understand BSL and support the local Longmont Humane Society. They have a great program for rehabilitating Pit Bulls that would probably be considered un-adoptable at most other shelters. I really respect them for that!
Since I follow them on facebook I get to see all the posts about the available pets, the great stories about the pets that get adopted and all their special events they put on throughout the year. The other day I came across a post that shared the following slide show. It made me so happy to see that Dragon, a dog that came from a fighting background, and showed signs of aggression, was given a second chance. He was given direction and love and now he has a new forever home! I really believe that the Longmont Humane Society has saved dozens or hundreds of Pit Bulls by taking them in and working with them. They are such lovable dogs who can be so cruelly taken advantage of by worthless individuals. Please watch and share. Thank you.

I've finally completed the video of all the pictures we took while we were at the National Pit Bull Awareness Day event that Kelly of Wishcuit organized. What did I learn? One, making videos is hard and takes a lot of time! Two, I should let other people do it because I'm far from an expert at it! None the less, here is what I came up with! We had a great time and can't wait for next year!
Please remember Kenn Bell's "Pit Proud: The Movie" that inspired all the pictures with the sign. There are only 14 days left to donate to his movie and help him teach the world the truth about Pit Bulls!

I was just searching for an update on Lennox (who we will supposedly know the fate of by this Friday, November 11th), when I happened upon this article about Ace. Ace is a pit bull who found completely emaciated at an ACE Hardware store in Detroit, Michigan on November 4th. According to the article, store owners called Detroit Animal Control to come and remove the poor, scared pup. That alone makes me sad. I'm sure there are rescue groups in the area who would have approached Ace with much more compassion than the city of Detroit is going to give him.
But, Detroit Animal Control has a policy, foolish as it might be, they are sticking to it. They are holding Ace until Thursday - yes, just four business days - to allow time for his "owners" to claim him. I emphasize owner there because a pet parent would NEVER allow their beloved pet to get to the state in which Ace was found. Do they really think this owner is going to come forward and claim Ace? Are they that hung up on their policies that they will refuse to accept the donations and assistance of all the people and organizations that are stepping forward in the hopes of saving Ace? Unfortunately, yes.

And I am still feeling inspried by all the wonderful people who came with their Pit Bulls to show their support. Kelly from Wishcuit did a great job getting all of us Pit Bull lovers together! Thanks Kelly! She even made slide show of pictures from the event - check it out! Check her out too. She supports many things, not just Pit Bulls and rescues, but Canine Cancer research too. She's pretty amazing. :)
Mostly I wanted to say that I had a great time and we (ok, mostly my Mom) are working on a video of the event. Please stay tuned so you can see the final project!! For now, here is a picture to hold you over. :)
(The squirrel costume didnt win the costume contest, but I really liked it!!)

I'm too young to really understand everything Steve Jobs did for the world of technology, but I know I couldn't live without my ipod! From everything I've read and seen on TV I know he is responsible for much of the technology that I have grown used to. My Mom would say I take it for granted, but I just don't know any different!
Anyway, I wanted to share a post with everyone that Laura Goldman wrote over on i LOVE DOGS. It shows that not only was Steve Jobs a visionary with Technology, but he was also a dog friendly visionary. Please visit the post and watch the commercial that Apple created in 1983. It features Kevin Costner and a Pit Bull! I definitely wish the big business people of today were as amazing as Steve Jobs was. There must be some that are involved with animal welfare and spreading the word, right? Anyone know who?
Thank you. Miah Rae

If you follow this blog then you knew that Miah and I are pet loving, Pit Bull educating, anti-BSL, anti-puppy mill, animal welfare advocates. It's just who we are. That's why Ken Bell, the creator of Dog Files, and his series of videos about Dogs and how they are such integral parts of our lives hit home for us. And the potential to share the truth about Pit Bulls and not the media hype excites both Miah and I. So when the below video popped up on my facebook page I knew right away I HAD to share it. Please consider donating and sharing it too. Education is the best answer to everything Pit Bull. Let's show the world who these dogs really are!!

Yes, that's right: DOG EATING FESTIVAL! I can't even believe I have to write that as part of this post! When I heard about this I had one of those moments were I wished I could rewind time and pretend that I did not know any country could (or would) ever have a festival that included eating dogs. And not only that, but actually butchering them in the street.
Thanks to an outcry of thousands of Chinese dog lovers and supporters through Social Media, this festival is no more. That is one step forward. Now, if only we could do away with puppy mills and BSL I would feel SO much better!
(One note: I did not click on the link in the article about whether or not eating dogs can be done humanely because the question alone made me nautious. Instead I am focusing on the fact that hundreds of dogs will no longer be slaughtered for a festival.)
